I've been working on a swale to capture extra water to feed a vernal pond. I've dug the low spot a bit deeper to hold more water on the landscape.
This spring I'm planting hardy pecans, hazels and aronia. The forestry department here in Indiana has a great program for native plants. !00 sticks are about $40 to $45 delivered. They have a pretty good variety of trees and shrubs. I'll be busy planting 300 trees and shrubs this year. In the past I've ordered pine trees for a wind break. Persimmons to fill in where the pines didn't make it and add variety.
I also would like to try my hand at grafting some apple and peach trees.
