Native Sandalwood - Crop and Emergency Fund

Nuts for a Sandalwood Tree

On ABC Landline last week, there was an update of the Western Australian Sandalwood Industry (do not despair globe trotters, as there is an Indian version that even better for wood production, but does not provide edible nuts), and it struck me that while it would be an annual crop, it would also act as an emergency fund in retirement.

Ideally I would leave this world with the bands of Sandalwood on my property producing nuts for the next owner, but in the event I needed it, I could rip it out and convert it to farm income of approximately $10,000 (Australian Dollars) a ton. So I am looking at added Sandalwood to my planting plan as an emergency investment for bad times, as well as a annual crop.
