Jessi Bloom is a best selling author, national speaker and award-winning permaculture designer. She is the owner and lead designer of N.W. Bloom—EcoLogical Landscapes, www.nwbloom.com known for innovation in sustainable landscape design, construction, and maintenance. Jessi is committed to educating others and now spends much of her time teaching and consulting professionals in the green industry, government agencies and private land owners. Being strongly committed to volunteering in the community and raising industry standards, Jessi also sits on several advisory boards and committees within the green industry and educational/environmental organizations – enthusiastically introducing permaculture to everyone she meets. Her current work is focused on leaders​hip with emotional intelligence, public spaces within schools and serving as the Sustainability Chair for APLD an international organization for professional landscape designers.

Her first book Free-Range Chicken Gardens (Timber Press 2012) has been praised for being informative and inspiring, changing the way people integrate animals into their landscapes, even helping to change animal ordinance laws. Her second book co-authored with Dave Boehnlein, Practical Permaculture For Home Landscapes, Your Community and the Whole Earth (Timber Press 2015) has the intention of reaching mainstream audiences with a inspirational and accessible tone. Recognition for her work includes awards from the Washington State Department of Ecology, the American Horticultural Society, Pacific Horticulture magazine, Sunset magazine, the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association, and the Washington Association of Landscape Professionals.

Jessi lives north of Seattle with her two sons on their permaculture homestead with a plethora of gardens and animals.
