SCHEMATIC DESIGN OPTION 1 - Woodland Succession

Project: DESIGN FARM (Gekas Residence)

Posted by Robert Glinn almost 9 years ago

Design Option #1 is a succession based, perennial, tree centric plan with emphasis on high market value crops. The tree crops are comprised primarily of select hardwoods with inter plantings of select crops, such as chestnut cultivars and/or clumping bamboo. The trees are densely planted to be selectively cut at later dates, to better maximize yields. The spacing of the rows shall accommodate vehicles and/or other equipment for harvest and maintenance.
The cabins alternately branch off a primary road that extends from 119th St. to the new pond on the back nine acres. Each cabin location defines a region of specialty crops planted in rows or clusters. Pathways (dashed lines) follow and cut through the rows and segment the property into smaller regions, thus allowing for ease of planning and management.
At the top of the hill sits a newly excavated pond, similar in size to one at the NW corner of the back nine. The pond may function as a lined, natural swimming pool and/or fish farm. By locating the pond at this location, allows for easier excavation and serves the water needs of the barn and can support all cabins, gravity-fed.

Mike Rezz
Mike Rezz : Hello from Australia! My experience at Spin Samurai started off slow with a few losses on roulette, but things turned around when I hit a big win on the slots. That win helped me book a weekend getaway. The site is well-designed and easy to use, making it perfect for Aussie players. The fast payouts and generous bonuses make Spin Samurai a fantastic option for anyone looking to score big online.

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
