Project Description

Welcome to Tranquility’s Way! We are seeking spiritual, like-minded people to partner with us.
Tranquility’s Way is the evolving reality of a group of family and friends. We have purchased 50 acres of land in the Northeast region of Alabama, USA (Mentone) in March of 2012. Our intention is to have a spiritual retreat center with cabins, beautiful gardens and an abundance of food. A campground and RV resort is already in place and functional. This will create some jobs for the community. The land is quite beautiful with many springs popping up everywhere, the springs have been tested and its pristine water! Our forest is naturally food based with blackberries, sumac, cherries, crab apples, blueberries, tons of greens and grapes! An abundance of water is here with our 6 acre spring fed lake!
In years to come, there will be an eco-village with various living styles, organic farm, General store, restaurant etc. A total of six separate projects, along with subsidiaries, will be in the works for anyone to head up and take on. We are currently seeking founding members that is capable of investing with us financially.
We will be an egalitarian, inter-generational community that welcomes human diversity, ecological sensibility, mutual learning, and joy.
The land is situated in the beautiful highlands, where there are an attractive mix of activities such as hiking trails, revealing a diversity of wildlife, panoramic views, and streams and rivers that meander through Mentone. Large beautiful waterfalls, Caverns, natural swimming holes, and many other fantastic wonders surround our property!
Current Update: We are developing the first Eco-campgrounds in the US! This will take some design planning and implementation with Permaculture design in mind. Our intention for 2013-2015 is to develop the eco-campgrounds, the surrounding area of the Welcome Center and continue to learn and understand the ecology of the environment. All are welcome to come and campout and enjoy our campgrounds. We are happy to host those who wish to exchange some energy toward developing the improvements to our campgrounds and gardens. Outdoor solar showers with grey water system, composting toilets, and large composting projects are in the development phases. We shall need a bit of help designing and implementing these. Your help with this is deeply appreciated.
Much love and happiness to you all. Contact us anytime. Bliss… - See more at: http://www.ic.org/directory/guwahi-eco-village/#sthash.lrsbrDII.dpuf

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
