A permaculture project on a 7-acre ex rubber smallholding, next to and overlooking a golf course, bungalows and condominium within the A'Famosa golf and holiday resort in Melaka Malaysia
This 7 acre land stands 100m above sea level at the peak and 55 m at the base. I intend to convert it into a PRI for 1) demonstration and education in sustainable agriculture to be made more viable through multi yield production of fresh produce for the next door resort -weather for on-farm pick-and-choose, for ex-farm sales or for direct front door supply and delivery services, and also for 2) showcasing experiential local farm-living activities to the estimated 3 million annual visitors of the resort, further complementing its existing tourism products and services. I sold my other land earlier proposed for 'Pegohland' project and acquired a neighbouring plot to the existing one I had near this resort. I now have 7 acre plot at one location and can now concentrate on permaculture development as a single project. I append herewith some photos of the site and I have also completed with the topographic map which I shall post here soon. With this I hope to be able to complete with the design and layout of the farm. For those who is following my project, I welcome any views, comments and ideas on my project from here on. Till my next posting.
Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
