Permaculture garden Sint-Oedenrode

Project Type

Rural, Residential

Project Summary

Start of a Permaculture Garden on a small piece of soil (10 by 50 meters). No pesticides/fertilizer has been used during the last 18 years on this land (or neighbouring land). The garden is a test for me in person to try to make a permaculture garden, and a way to show others what is possible.

Project Description

Start of a permaculture garden on a small piece of soil (10 by 50 meters) which has been abandoned for the last 18 years. No pesticides/fertilizers have been used during this time on this land or the neighbouringland. The garden is used as a start for me personaly in order to learn to work in permaculture. I also hope that more people will want to help me in my town (Sint-Oedenrode).

I will try to start a blog about the garden, so other people can read what is happening and which problems I encounter. They can also learn about permaculture. Finaly, I want to show people around in this project, so they can learn about permaculture. Although I have finished the PDC, I feel 72 (in fact more about 100) hours of lessons about permaculture is not nearly enough for me to be able to teach people. I am however able to show people the basics, and I want to show this to people so they can start for themselves.

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
