Yeni arazimize bir hayvan barınağı yapmaya karar verdiğimizde. Bu barınağı nereye, hangi malzeme ile, hangi hayvanlar için, maliyetin ne olacağı ve ne büyüklükte olacağı gibi, yapılacak bu barınakla ilgili bazı soruları yanıtlamamız gerekiyordu. Arazi üzerinde bir süre dolaşıp, ilerde yapacağımız, küçük bir ahşap konaklama alanını, yan komşunun evinin konumunu, arazinin dışına-yabana çıkışa yakınlığını, arazide oluşturulacak yeni gıda ormanı ve göletin konumunu ve güneşin yönünü göz önünde bulundurarak, nihayet kümesin (küçük baş hayvan barınağı) yerini tespit ettik.

Kümesimizin yerini belirledikten sonra, hangi malzeme ile yapacağımızı düşünmeye başladık. Ekonomik olması ve kolay yapılabilmesi öncelikli tercihimiz olduğu için ahşap malzeme kullanmayı uygun bulduk. Ancak bu ahşap malzemeyi direk toptak üzerine inşa etmenin, aklımıza gelen en önemi iki olumsuz yönünü göz ardı edemezdik. Ahşabın çabuk çürümesi ve yaban hayvanların toprağı eşeleyip ahşabın altından kümese girebilmesi gibi. Bu nedenle zemine beton atamayı düşündük. Fakat bu işçilik ve malzeme açısından bize biraz külfetli geldi. Bunun yerine beton bireket kullanmayı tercih ettik. Zeninin terazide olmaması da biraz sıkıntı yaratıyordu. Toprağı yaklaşık 50 cm kadar kazarak, ilk iki sırası toprağın altında, diğer bir sırası da toprağın üzerinde olacak şekilde, beton bireketlerden harçlı temel ördük.

Briket örme işini yaparken, ikinci sıradan sonra kapının yerini bırakmayı ve kümesin köşelerine dikeceğimiz 10+10 ahşap kolonları gömeceğimiz bireketlerin, çukurlu olan kısmını yukarı doğru getirmeyi ve yanındaki diğer bireketlerin içini de beton harç ile doldurmayı ihmal etmedik.

	PRI Teacher With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
	Aid Worker The individual with this badge is indicating they are, have, or would like to be involved in permaculture aid work. As such, the individual may or may not have permaculture aid worker experience. Watch their updates for evaluation.
	Consultant The individual with this badge is indicating they are, have, or would like to do paid permaculture design consultancy work. As such, the individual may or may not have permaculture consultancy experience. Watch their updates for evaluation.
	Community Project Community projects are projects that help develop sustainable community interaction and increase localised resiliency.
