Project Summary

A feline look at the world from a resilient community

Project Description

"cat eyes" virtual information center is action-oriented, individual and group, not an action reivindicatica but constructive resource. Our focus is on building resilient communities, in a world of multiple challenges emerging: decline of cheap energy, depletion of critical natural resources such as water, soil, complex environmental scenarios such as climate change, loss of biodiversity and the resulting social and economic problems associated with all these. It is a center to understand, understand, reflect, collect and share to grow in Resilience in a community in an area, group and / or individual level.

The project was born in a small corner of the Sierra de Gata, is where the transition from city to rural, manifested in the transition from a project of personal growth. The transition from an industrialized area with "knowledge" full, makes her way into an area of "expertise" with full local wisdom.

The region of Sierra de Gata, located northwest of Extremadura, between the Hurdes and the border of Portugal, known for their generous and warm microclimate orientation of its valleys, offering excellent conditions for the cultivation of olive trees, vineyards, a variety of fruit trees and livestock grazing of goats, cows and sheep. The traditional culture of its people kept farming practices inherited from antiquity and the "know how" when developing a rich range of food products now having its greatest exponents in the production of olive oil, wine, cheeses, meats, honey, pollen.

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
