Establish a food forest in Rapha Valley.
Rapha Valley is a 2.7 hectare property in a denuded forest area. They basically maintain a vegetable garden to serve clients at the hilltop restaurant, BB, and in food processing demo. They would like to have perrenials entered into the diet they serve and show visitors the bounty of nature in a food forest.
Work will consist of preparing the land with introduction of leguminous land cover and medium term trees as well before bringing in the fruit trees. We are also putting in a lot of bananas for temporary cover of young trees, as food source and as biomass for vermicomposting. Water harvesting and conservation will be introduced into the project.

PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
