Yasica is an EcoCenter that provides natural solutions for sustainable food and agriculture, health, and living.
Yasica Mountain EcoCenter is poised to become one of the most influential EcoCenters worldwide. We are helping to advance a new generation of leaders, linking sustainable agriculture, education, and natural health solutions.
Yasica seeks to inspire people of all ages so they in turn can stimulate similar thinking and action in others, in order to enhance their social system and our planet.
Yasica is providing a unique environment to educate young people, in particular, through innovative and holistic environmental and health programs, while enjoying the spoils of a vacation at our EcoCenter.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Business Mentorship
Teaching a skill and creating fundamental building blocks for success are at the core of all our programs and initiatives. A hand up is far more impactful than a hand out. Our business mentoring programs have us directly invloved in creating solutions for aspiring local entrepreneurs. As we teach these basic skill sets the individuals are prepared to understand the mechanics of a simple return on investment, costing and the concept of a retail price structure.
School Garden Project
Our School Garden Program gives local students a different perspective using basic agricultural techniques… creates an awareness of the benefits of a healthy diet by building and maintaining raised bed gardens on the school grounds or on adjacent plots of land. The creation of vertical gardens is easy to implement using recycled material found right here in their neighbourhood.
Potable water program
We partner with various private interest groups who are passionate about providing potable water to communities along sections of the Islands North Coast. Using simple 5 gallon plastic pails and carbon filters these systems are made available to families who are in need. As you can imagine water is truly a valuable commodity world-wide.
Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

|
PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
