Project Summary

Kompotoi We do the best out of your Sh!T Kompotoi is a composttoilet for rent system.

Project Description

The mobile composting toilet renting

Purpose / Goal

The goal of this project is to increase awareness of for sustainable handling of our resources. The recent lately trend for an ecological and sustainable live style, on private and company level, is asking for unconventional, environmental friendly solutions. Conventional mobile toilets are using a high amount of chemicals, freshwater and energy to dispose of the feces. The Kompotois on the other hand, are running without any chemical additives; with that the “human output” doesn’t remain just waste but actually turns into a secondary resource. Besides that, the Kompotoi does not create any displeasing odors, has a clean and attractive design and is completely environmental friendly.

With Kompotoi there is no waste. Due to its unique system, the toilet is actually able to even produce its own soil fertilizer. This fertilizer can then be used as a high quality resource in the gardening business. Therefore Kompotoi isn’t just a toilet, it’s a smart product that closes
the natural cycle by itself. Simple, clean and effective.

Tenancy

The product is completely user friendly. The comfort of the user is our focus and
main priority. Real life feedback state, that the Kompotoi toilet actually offers a
higher comfort standard than any comparable products on the market. The odor
absorption works thru a ventilation system that is built with wood shavings that
also serve as visual barrier. The attractive out- and interior design of the toilet
underlines its premium appearance and differentiates them from other rental
toilettes . On top of all, the inside of the toilet provides a high quality comfort and hygiene standards.

All toilets are made out of renewable resources and are produced locally in Switzerland. Like that Kompotoi ensures to not only offer environmental friendly products, but also produce them in a CO2 efficient way.

Enrichment

The collected raw material is transformed to stable humus soil. A combined procedure including fermentation and composting is conducted. This process is also used to generate Terra preta. With our compost, soil will be activated and through the humus, a carbon fixation obtains.

Education

With our unique product, we are offering a different and surprising user experience which inspires people to think about environment and realize how simple innovative sanitation systems help to support the case. The commonly distinguished human waste is not simply flushed away, but recycled in a hygienic way and transformed into a new resource. This process will create curiosity by user to the question to what actually happens once they press the flush button.

With information boards and flyers inside the toilets, Kompotoi answers all
relevant questions. Furthermore, it’s possible to use this communication platform to promote other projects that are looking for sustainable solutions in this field.

Funding

As a company run by young an innovative entrepreneurs, believing that creative sanitation solutions will support a rethinking within society, Kompotoi is dependent on external funding. At this stage the large personal investments have been made. The company has created and produced a first stock of toilets and has successfully started business. In order to enlarge the assortment of toilets and for the project to run by itself, it is in need of financial support

The goal of producing and promotion an addtionial 15 Kompotois, 4 washbowls and 5 urinals will require a total of CHF 65`000. This sum will enable Kompotoi to create two jobs and will include all relevant equipment. With this investment Kompotoi will be able to work independently and grow organically.

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
