My home was designed as a final excercise in the PDC I attended in Oct 2011, and I thought upon coming home again... why not make the design reality??
The idea that occurred to me on the PDC was that of a recreational area both for children (touchy-feely path with educational value) and adults (alternative social spot), whilst providing food for the residents (2-6 people) as well as regenerating the earth.
The plot measures around 2000m2 and a house of approx. 80m2 sits on this plot in the SW corner. The property is located about 200m away from both the beach and the village, lies on the edge of a residential area and has it's own water (well and rainwater cistern).
On the 12th of November I hope to welcome a group of Permablitzers, although the design still needs some reworking and lots of materials need to be gathered.

PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
