Project Summary

Mango Tree is a adventure and permaculture center in Lamjung, Nepal . We want to inspire people to live in harmony with Nature.

Project Description

We are an adventure & permaculture center in Lamjung district. Our core values are earth care, people care and future care. We have built our infrastructure using local sustainable materials like stone, mud, bamboo, wood, etc and grow our own grain and vegetables. We employ local people as well as involved with promoting eco adventure tourism in Lamjung District. We have the ideal surroundings for outdoor adventure activities like canyoning, hikes, treks, rafting, kayaking, honey hunting, village tours and much, much more. Our location makes us an ideal place to start the Annapurna Circuit as we are only 15 minutes’ drive away from Besisahar. Here you will find the first check post for Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). Besisahar is also the ending point of the Manaslu trek and Since we are so close to Besisahar and have the most amazing views of the Marshyangdi river dam, open spaces ,surrounded by hills, villages and mountains - you can spend the night at Mango Tree either on your way back from the Manaslu trek or to start your trek to Annapurna’s – you’ll be sure to have a relaxing time to recap on your journey, have a shower and homely food to warm you up. From here, Kathmandu Valley is only 5 hrs away. Beautiful Pokhara is only 3 hrs and the wildlife paradise “Chitwan” is mere couple hour away! Our activities are designed to suit for people of all ages, family, couples or singles. You do not have to be super fit to enjoy our activities. People from all walks of life come to us. We are also proud to be associated with Siddha Baba’s Ashram in Nepal where you can learn the way of Kundalini Yog & Meditation. At Mango Tree, we welcome you with open arms and we are sure you will feel right at home. Please check out website for further information.

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
