Ananda Suruci is a spiritual eco-village in Southern Taiwan. We offer Yoga Fasting Retreats and Permaculture Design Courses (PDC) and we host student camps, seminars and spiritual retreats.
Surrounded by tropical fruit farms, Ananda Suruci 'Master Unit' is located near Yujing township in Tainan county, Southern Taiwan.
Master Units are like eco-villages, founded by members of the worldwide Ananda Marga (Path of Bliss) spiritual movement to serve as a model of sustainable development and service minded spirituality. Master Units are striving to be applied demonstrations of PROUT principles also propounded by Shrii P. R. Sarkar.
Ananda Suruci covers 14 acres of land and includes a large yoga-meditation center, staff accommodation, organic vegetable garden, food forest, newly established organic orchard with over 40 varieties of fruit trees, bamboo forest, rain water collection system, 4 ponds and a beautiful lotus pond garden.
We host monthly Yoga Fasting Retreats, Permaculture Design Courses as well as student camps, retreats and seminars.
Volunteering at Ananda Suruci
The activities at Ananda Suruci are diverse and any expertise in different fields is welcome. As we like to implement permaculture principles we are looking especially for qualified permaculturists who could help us with this. The volunteers work about 6 hours per day, in return for food and accommodation. We generally work Monday to Saturday and have Sundays off. Volunteers can stay from a few days to several months.
The project is supervised by a yogic monk who has dedicated his life to self-realization and service to humanity. He teaches yoga and meditation and besides this works as a missionary of Ananda Marga to serve the community where needed.
Accommodation: There are two converted containers with 2 rooms each and attached bathrooms for up to 4 volunteers.
Food: Our food is taken collectively and is lacto-vegetarian (vegan is possible too). We don´t eat onion, garlic and mushrooms.
When to come: We can receive volunteers the whole year around. Just let us know ahead when you want to come.
Additional comments: We are
open for anyone interested to work in a spiritual environment, and
expect that you will respect our spiritual norms and values during your
stay. Smoking and drinking alcohol are not allowed.
Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering at Ananda Suruci.
Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PDC TeacherPeople who claim to teach some version of PDC somewhere in the world. |
|
PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
