The vision of Kalen is living in harmony with self, others and nature. Our mission is to provide platform for nurturing ideas and practices for creative expression, responsible ecological behaviour and spiritual fulfilment, towards sustainable and healthy lifestyles. One of our goals is to educate, demonstrate and practice Permaculture.
A group of enthusiastic people who share the same vision and interest for a self sustainable world started an organisation called Kalen to put their ideas into practice.
The aims and objectives of the organisation are:
* acting for personal benefit, benefit the community and nature.
* encourage and promote healthy lifestyles and choices.
* raising awareness of our actions and decisions and their impact on our health, life and environment.
* providing knowledge and skills in order to make life changes towards sustainability and self-realization.
* promotion of knowledge and methods of selfrealization, socialization and integration of different aspects of personality, to all interested
* providing space for exchange of information and experiences in the areas covered in the work of the Association.
* achieving self-sustainability of the Association, including financial self-sustainability
* establishing self-sustainable community.
* Providing support and cooperation with individuals and organizations whose ideas and activities are related with the ideas and activities of our organization.
As we just are starting our Permaculture adventure, we have just aquired 1 Ha of land which we like to develop into a Permaculture education Centre. Our aim is to hold many Permaculture workshops and classes, organise Permaculture projects , to hold permaculture training courses and PDC courses. This not only for ourselves to learn but also to promote Permaculture in Macedonia and around.
Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

|
PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |

Kalenova!
Kalen is inviting you to Kalenova; a week devoted to exploring and expanding own potentials and interests. This event will take place from 2 to 8 September 2011, on Kitka mountain, Macedonia.
Permaculture in Action; Raised beds and Keyhole gardens
In this workshop we are addressing the benefits and different designs of raised bed and keyhole gardens. After this short explanation we are going to design and create these gardens ourselves.
Permaculture in Action; Water harvesting
Energy and nutrients tend to rush across a site quickly. The trick in capturing them is to slow down the flow, so that the system has time to absorb them. In this workshop we are going to work with one of the most important energies; water.
Permaculture in Action; Designing the field
In this 2 hour workshop we are taking our first steps into the design of the field.
Permaculture in Action; Sector Planning
A 2 hour workshop in Sector planning, Resources and evaluation. We are going trough the first steps of designing our field.
Permaculture in action, Field observation
A 2 hour workshop to explore several aspects of Field observation, such as wind, sun, water movement, existing vegetation and so on.
