(projects i'm involved in)
I was born in the UK. Whilst I was a baby, the family moved to Jamaica where I was schooled. As a young adult, I moved back to the UK where I currently live.
Whilst researching "eco-farming" with a view to setting up an organic/eco-farm in Jamaica, I kept coming across the word "Permaculture" and decided to look into it. I learnt a lot about Permaculture from the internet, volunteering at food growing projects, going to Permaculture events in my local area and from discussions with others like my learned friend who is an aquaponic consultant. I did an Introduction to Permaculture course which I enjoyed so much that I went on to do a second Introduction to Permaculture course with another teacher. I went on to do the Full PDC course and enjoyed it so much that I'd like to do another. I also want to start pursuing my Permaculture Diploma.
I am now looking into going self-employed as a course and events facilitator and am setting up Blue Paradise Farms - a Permaculture resort-cum-training site in Westmoreland, Jamaica. The plan is to invite teachers of Permaculture and related disciplines to run courses on the property and subsidise or give free places to local Jamaicans who wish to attend. I plan to run this project in such a way as to benefit the community.
