Sooo, I own a large lot in Denver. A bit under 16,000' square. It has a smaller house on the property at the front of the lot with most of the space in the fenced back yard. I have a pretty extensive background in construction and am interested in building a small yurt village in the back based on principles of efficiency, permaculture, and community.
I estimate that between 6 to 12 yurts in the 16'-20' diameter range could fit comfortably while leaving a reasonable amount of space for gardening, chickens, goats and the like.
The existing house will serve as a bit of a community center as well as an access to the grid(internet, water, etc) since ideally the yurts will be mostly off-grid. I will begin building in August.
If you're interested in being involved in any way let me know and I'll buy you a beer while we see if we're a good fit. All skill-sets welcome. Permaculturists, farmers, plumbers, lawyers, artists, wing nuts...long as your not the dangerous sort. Young, old, kids, no kids, black, white, green...whatever...bring your gifts. Drop me a line or two and I'll get back to you.
