Careers in Information Technology consulting and commercial shipping have required that I develop a proactive, solution-oriented approach to life. While traveling around the world in a small self-contained living system (the ship), I began to understand that we all live in a closed ecosystem (the Earth) and must take responsibility for the way that we live.
I read Permaculture Two in 1986 while searching for a sustainable future for my Grandparent's farm in the semi-arid high plains of West Texas, USA. I learned many hard lessons trying to apply Permaculture principles on that small farm while the surrounding area was under active assault from the agricultural industry.
I'm currently working with a group that is bringing Permaculture education and practice to an established resort community in subtropical South Florida, USA. I look forward to opportunities for learning, teaching and designing Permaculture solutions for people who are seeking a sustainable way of life.
