About Sandra Powell

Formerly a teacher, and then a materials engineer for a national laboratory. Recently retired.

Became interested in permaculture when one of my projects at work involved keeping an area downhill of a large burn scar from flooding during our monsoon seasons. Began seeing many permaculture ideas that could be adopted on our small farm and became captivated by the ethics and practices. Found that, like engineering, permaculture changed the way I looked at everything.

Currently working our property in northern New Mexico and giving advice on a property in southern New Mexico. Left a plan for changes at my previous job, but they have not yet been implemented. Working on projects for restoring watershed and wildlife habitat in the Valles Caldera Preserve near Los Alamos, New Mexico.
