My name is Dane Breslin and I graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA with a degree in Environmental Studies & Public Relations. Since graduating I have worked in the rust belt of Zambia as a camp manager for students studying the psychology of chimpanzees. Following this experience I served for a year with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps North West in Hillsboro Oregon as an environmental educator and riparian restoration specialist.
During college I spent a summer working on an organic farm in rural northeast Washington and was exposed to many permaculture ideas. I also experienced some similar ideas in Zambia and while working in Oregon restoring wetlands. These experiences inspired me!
This year I moved out to Lawrence, Kansas and interned on a permaculture farm and took the PDC course. This fall I designed and implemented my own urban permaculture design in North Lawrence on a commercial/residential property.
When I return to Oregon I intend to find other permaculture experiences and hope to learn husbandry, woodworking and carpentry as well (I am currently working as a stonemason). One day my wife and I hope to start our own Holistic Health Retreat Center!
Please contact me if you know of any worthwhile permaculture experiences in Bend, Oregon.
