Hello, I am Peter From Northern Beaches of Sydney
I started my professional Career as a Physiotherapist.
I subsequently designed an award winning ergonomic office chair that I manufactured in Sydney Australia, Manchester UK and Chicago US.
I built 2 factories to accommodate those businesses.
I now develop property in the Sydney area, so I have a good understanding of the construction process.
My interest in Permaculture has been fueled by my desire to buy between 300-400 acres north west of Newcastle at some point in the near future
I want to run angus cattle and plant fruit trees / food forest along contours between grazing paddocks.
I will own a restaurant and IGA supermarket in the northern beaches area when they are finished being built.
I plan to sell the beef and fruit/produce to the IGA / restaurant giving a much higher return.
One of the main concerns I have is I do not want to live on the farm but am happy to spend significant amounts of time establishing the farm and getting it running right, I love the beaches too much.
So I need to find a manager that is able to follow the plan when I am not there!! Not too sure how I find the right person that will stay long term?
I also need to find an abattoir that will kill and bone the cattle, I have heard there is a mobile abattoir on the back of a truck but can not find them, if anybody knows about such things I would be grateful.
Mini Abattoirs are possible but they cost $300-500k or more! I do not want to spend that sort of money at this stage.
The big processors do not want to know little fry like me.
