In the past 7 years I have dug up my entire suburban backyard and have been developing the hard clay soil. I drove around neighborhoods that were throwing away their leaves and I dumped them in my backyard along with some hay. I have delicious concord and merlot grapes that make delicious juice. I have successfully grown herbs and vegetables, roses, lavender, marshmallow, chamomile, lemon balm, fo-ti and other medicinal herbs.
Even though it's extremely hot in my area and everyone said that I would never be able to grow apples here, I managed to have my first crop of juicy delicious gala and golden delicious apples. People were so amazed and stopped by to pick them to see if they were real.
I have 9 fig trees, however, that die back every winter along with the unripe figs. I would love advice on how to successfully grow figs.
