(projects i'm involved in)
I have been learning and utilizing permaculture design for the past 3 years and am always excited to connect with other permaculturalists and hear what they are doing. I first learned about it when I was in college, doing my senior project/internship with EcoStructure Barbados, a design firm that uses permaculture design, aquaponics, rainwater catchment, and solar PV to design and build low impact, homes with edible landscapes.
After graduating I travelled through South America for six months and lived for 3 months in the Peruvian Amazon continuing to learn and practice permaculture design. I also studied and worked with medicinal plants of the rainforest.
I took a PDC during the summer of 2014 with Whole Systems Design in VT which was spectacular and also apprenticed on a small scale, off-grid, organic farm called Wild Folk Farm in Maine that integrates permaculture design and agro-ecological principles to produce a great abundance. I'm going to live and work there this summer to continue developing the farm agro-ecosystem and a large-scale ecological rice paddy system.
This fall I'll be attending the Conway School of Landscape Design to gain experience integrating permaculture principles into landscape design, regional planning, and community engagement.
I'm excited to be a part of the permaculture network so don't hesitate to get in touch with me about anything: questions, opportunities, projects, and any and everything else.
Cheers,
Mike
