(projects i'm involved in)
I have been interested in self-sufficiency since 2010. In 2012, I discovered the concepts of permaculture through Jack Spirko of The Survival Podcast. In 2015 I took my PDC with Ben Falk at the Whole Systems Design sites in Vermont (Rochester and Mad River Valley).
I currently live in a little suburban neighborhood in Salt Lake City, so my footprint is small. Nevertheless, I am trying to do what I can to establish permanent, perennial food. Fruit trees, grape vines, chickens, herbs, and berries (in addition to a good-sized area of annual plantings). If you are interested in seeing what I've learned in a small-context, cold arid climate, visit my site: http://TheDailyPrep.com.
I am ultimately planning to relocate to a 3-6 acre property, where I have a little more space for perennial food forest systems, livestock, ponds and water management, and more.
