Having spent all but my first two years living in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S., I have become deeply rooted in the temperate rainforest and marine edge that surrounds me. Exploring the San Juan Islands and Cascade Mountains as a child, I was fascinated with the natural world and the myriad of systems moving around me.
In 1991, at age 15, I watched an Australian TV special about Bill Mollison and Permaculture. It was so inspiring that I immediately went out and bought the first book I could find by Bill Mollison. It turned out to be "Travels in Dreams", which was pretty heady material at 15. Nonetheless, I was started down a path that has ultimately led me to the life and work that I now find myself enjoying immensely.
We operate a small Permaculture Design/Build company from our family homestead on the Oregon coast. My wife is a Registered Horticultural Therapist and we both completed a PDC at the Bullock Brother's Homestead on Orcas Island. We are continuing to develop our 5 acre homestead and have recently decided to open a local food and farm supply store in the small town of Yachats, Oregon.
