Hi Everyone.
I was raised on a 100 acre farm in Southern Ontario in a large family. We lived a lot of the principles of permaculture just because we were so poor. Waste not want not attitude. I traveled around Canada and eventually got involved in horticulture again in 1990. Since then I have operated my own tree care business on the prairies. My husband and I moved to Victoria BC and I have been employed at the largest show flower garden in the area for many years.
I have only just finished my PDC so I am still trying to incorporate what I have learned into my everyday life. There is so much to learn. I feel the course really helped me to understand that we can find solutions to the world's problems...one project at a time...one person at a time...one day at a time. I believe that permaculture is a way of looking at the world in a positive way and trying to find solutions to problems by keeping the harmony of natural systems and people as the core to decision making.
I look forward to practicing the principles of permaculture in my own life and eventually helping others to learn more about permaculture. I'm not sure what capacity that will be in yet. I feel I've found a very welcoming community of friendly, knowledgable people willing to help others and the planet. All the best!
