About Maria Gorshenina

- Since childhood I've loved visiting my grandmothers' dachas. There I learned about wild plants that they could be used for nutrition. I asked for a small plot of land so that I could sow, plant, water and take care of the plants myself. After a while, I realized that one of my grandmothers had a forest garden at her dacha, which was interesting to watch.
- My love of nature, permaculture and ecological way of life was also promoted through participation in an early medieval historical reconstruction club, trips to eco-settlements in Russia, help at the festival of Eco-Technology.
- In winter I grow microgreens and create vegetable gardens on window sills.
- I have been an environmentalist since 2015, I am a volunteer in the "Waste resycle" movement, where these activities and work in the natural agriculture club helped me to develop the concept of holistic systems and cyclicality.
- Co-organiser of the Permaculture practitioners club.
- russianpermaculture.ru website editor

Practical experience
I started my gardening career in 2012 in a horticultural garden in Vyborg District of Leningrad Region, which is 20 kilometers from the Finnish border. The methods of gardening were applied immediately in the vein of natural farming for the production of natural foodstuffs. The permaculture experiments were then continued in the Nevelsk district of the Pskov region, when the farm was established. A good practice was participation in projects in Sochi, Nizhnyaya Khobza village, where I went through the whole cycle from sowing seeds to harvesting, learned to cuttings, grafting, working with various kinds of subtropical plants. On a farm near Valday, I sowed seeds of annual and perennial crops, did sprouting, picking, took care of outdoor and greenhouse plants, worked with poultry, took part in making different types of beds, took care of a nursery of woody and shrubbery plants.

Projects
- From 2015 to 2018 I worked for the St Petersburg Natural Farming Club.
- From February to August 2019 I worked at Sunny Gardens in Sochi.
- From May to September 2020, she participated in the project "Fertility Matrix | Permaculture in Action" and worked on a farm near Valday.
- December 2020-January 2021 worked with the permaculture firm Zemlematika.
