This year I moved to a small homestead in NE Oklahoma where I have chickens, goats, a dog and cats. I am working on a cabin and all my water comes from a rainwater collection system. I built the cabin with windows on the south to take advantage of passive solar heating. I use a humanure composting system and am putting in a constructed reedbed for the greywater from my cabin. I really believe in reduce, reuse and recycle!
As an avid gardener, I was very interested in permaculture when I first heard about it. I read Gaia's Garden and pretty much everything else I could get my hands on. Last year I completed my Permaculture Designer Class held in Ft. Worth, TX.
I am attempting to draw on permaculture principles as I build my homestead and create my own food forest. Because I live on a rocky hill, one of my first efforts is to create fertile soil that will support the farm.
