By age six, Mark was building cities that touched the ceiling of his bedroom. As a teen he discovered the potential of community-centered cultures in travels abroad and the sustaining connectedness of the natural world in hiking and canoeing the Southwestern US. He developed a knowledge of history, technology, economics, politics, spirituality, ancient and indigenous cultures and nature far beyond his high school curriculum and recognized an unfolding life mission of creating a world where people, nature and community were celebrated.

This life mission led Mark as a young man on a quest; in his early twenties, recently graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Mark found his way to festivals such as Burning Man and discovered how people can consciously reinvent cultural DNA to create an abundant world.

In a brief foray into Corporate America, Mark learned the discipline and leadership skills to automate one of the world's leading training seminar company’s entire international financial reporting structure and launch salons where participants systematically investigated the levers of cultural reinvention.

Then with the wisdom of adulthood Mark came home to that childhood promise, earned a Masters Degree from the SCI-Arc and a Permaculture Design Certificate, and threw himself into urban ecological design/build. From 2010-11, Mark designed, built and consulted on 15 structures, including high-end treehouses in collaboration with O2 Treehouse, the Red Lightning Sacred Village, geodesic sculptures quickly gaining attention in the Los Angeles art scene, community scale rainwater harvesting systems and a vertical garden system that will soon go to manufacture.

This is just the beginning; through the Vertecology brand Mark is designing and building visionary multifunctional structures that beneficially weave human habitation, ecological function and iconic revisioning of culture.
