I have an academical background in mechanical engineering and geophysics. I'm currently interested in open sorce mecanization for Permaculture.
I became first interested in Permaculture when I moved to a micro farm (approx. 2 hectares/5 acres) 10 years ago.
In 2005 I participated in a PDC course in IPEC, in Pirenópolis, Goiás, Brazil. Since 2008 I teach about renewable energy in PDC courses in Brasilia, with IPOEMA (a local Permaculture institute) and also with Sergio Pamplona.
I'm working with the local "open hardware" community, trying to connect them with the permaculture community.
I think that there are a lot of problems yet to be solved for small scale sustainable farming to be viable, and even good solutions already developed still needs good documentation to be really accessible. And in a lot of circumstances, low tech solutions are preferable, and "open source" is the right way to do it.
We are also stablishing an CSA initiative here in Brasilia.
