(projects i'm involved in)
I am a Midwest native who has found a home out west in Reno, NV. I discovered permaculture 4 years ago through our local chapter and subsequently fell in love with it when I realized that all the ideas I’ve been naturally drawn to over the years have an order and a practice shared by lots of amazing do-ers and teachers who also happen to be my neighbors.
Much of my interest in permaculture stems from community building and since joining Permaculture Northern Nevada I have founded and established an educational non-profit organization called Urban Roots Garden Classrooms. I received my Permaculture Design certificate from Neil Bertrando.
I currently help organize our local permaculture group and am always looking for new projects to help build my/our skill base. I am also a new mom, graphic & web designer, and love to paint, draw, climb, and do yoga whenever I get a chance.
Background: I studied Studio Art and Environmental Science at St.Olaf College and have a certificate in Environmental Education from University of MN-Duluth and Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center. Before joining Permaculture Northern NV, I also spent time learning agroforestry in El Paraiso, Educador and served for 2 years as an AmeriCorps volunteer with Sierra Nevada Journeys.
