About Brandon Horton

Brandon was born and raised in Oregon. Living in such a beautiful climate fostered in him an intimate appreciation for the natural world. He has lived in the woods off and on and can easily adapt to different situations in urban and rural environments.

His love for the natural world and abilities to do solid research lead him to try and find solutions to all the world's problems that was based upon ethics and systems created by the mother nature. Naturally, he found permaculture! He researched the topic independently for two or three years before searching for a local course. He found an online course through Oregon State University, a school with an amazing horticulture background. Brandon received his PDC June 2013.

At present he is living part time on a 4.2 acre(1.7hectare) site near Corvallis, Oregon. He has partnered with the owner of the land to create a permaculture teaching site, and they have the option to expand onto an adjoining 15 acres in the future(pending on the success of the original 4.2). He also has just under a hectare of land(2.43 acres) in the arid high desert of eastern Oregon that he plans on developing and expanding onto adjoining lots. He found that the local tribal members feel that this area of land was taken from them, which it was, and so his goal there is to restore the land and begin teaching tribal members permaculture in a sort of outreach program to them. He would like most of what is produced to go towards them and towards native permaculture based education, empowering them to restore and reclaim their lands.
