CEO at VAIHUTI FRESH Organic/Permaculture Farm in Raiatea, French Polynesia (Tahiti's outer islands). Long time marine scientist (PhD in Marine Biogeochemistry and Coral Reef Fish Ecology, former Vice Director of the Institute for Pacific Coral Reefs - IRCP / CNRS).
I created, along with 3 other friends, this commercial permaculture project about 4 years ago, looking for solutions to mitigate coral reef degradation.
We are now implementing and testing permacultural solutions for wet tropical climates (that is, very, very wet!) on our 50 acres land located in the SW of Raiatea Island (Leeward Islands). For example, we have received a EU grant to develop solutions against soil erosion, using permacultural techniques.
The land overlooks the blue coral reef lagoon, and has 3 permanent rivers. We already produce (or will produce): fruits, veggies, aromatic herbs, honey and organic eggs. We can host people on the farm too (see our profile on wwoof).
