I am a burb (suburbanite). As a child our diet was supplemented from the many herbs, vegetables and fruit trees growing in our garden. Our neighbours swapped plants, traded from their own food bounty and shared knowledge. I have always lived with and loved gardens, mine and other peoples. Waste was frowned on, recycling the norm and composting was free garden nourishment.

I have given back to our Australian community with bush regeneration and gained invaluable knowledge, truly appreciating how beautiful our bushland is.

There is a growing movement of sustainability, community and sharing and I am sure we can do our small part in nurturing budding gardeners.
