This collaboration marks the first time my name has been put forward as someone who knows about permaculture. I am using the opportunity to help the garden and to gain some more experience through our shared hugelkultur experiment. It will be great to see if and when the mushrooms grow, and also how the logs impact the veggie growing.
UPDATE: Garden decided against innoculating the logs, and we used logs that have been rotting for two years. On top of the logs we put sod that has been sitting since last year, so great soil with lots organic material and fat worms. We layered in some manure, and though there was topsoil on site, it was not nearly as nice as the dirt from the sod pile so we used that on the top instead. Can't wait to see how the raised beds perform this year, and years to come.
