72-hour PDC Certification
SECTION 1: Introduction
1. Story og Global Ecovillage Network - Why Ecovillages?
2. Patterns in Nature, Deep Ecology, development of human
consciousness.
SECTION 2:
3. Social Design - Modelling the Ecovillage -Social Aspect
The spiral of improvement, democracy or dictatorship?
The coordinating leader, quality circles, Ecovillage
Auditing, footprint analysis and education, conflict
resolution
4. Site design - House Design and Building Techniques
Design Tools, Feng Shui, Siting & Zoning, Materials, water,
energy, social aspect.
5. Soil, Plants, Gardening, Farming and Compost
Structure and behaviour of soil, mulching, small scale
planning, Biodynamic/Organic/
Community food production, the cartwheel model, Garden
plan, Garden Schedule, Compost ingredients.
6. Water and Sewage -Water in, water out
The planet Water, Schwenk, Shaumberger, & Wilkes,
biological sewage systems, living machines, Flow forms.
7. Energy Sources and Alternative Technology
Wasting our fossile fuel reserves, The nuclear waste
legacy, Falling water, Wind Generators, Solar power, bio
Energy, Bio energy, unconvencional sources.
8. Alternative Economics
What is £€? And what is it for? World Economics, the gold standard and porridge oats, shareholder protectionism and instability, indicators of sustainable economic welfare, LETS and other self generated systems, local capital, business and income creation, Community supported agriculture.
SECTION 3:
9. Design Hands-On Exercise
Creativity, Group Dynamics, Design Process step by step, Site assessment, Report writing.
INDIVIDUAL PROJECT PRESENTATION
FOCUS
Intentional Communities, Rural/Urban.
To achieve certification:
Present your own design to show comprehension.
Attendence of 75% of the classes
Lecturer: Jan Bang with diploma in permaculture and active member of Norwegian Permaculture Assosiation since 2000. Jan is also leader of Norwegian Ecovillage Foundation (NØF) and he has written several books about environment and communities.

(incl. 3 meals a day, lodging, certification).
