Doing some sheet mulching between my fruit trees.  Wet cardboard, newspaper, and wood chips.

Some people are against using wood chips but I figure they are better than nothing.  In addition to the added organic matter hopefully I wont have to mow the grass between the trees anymore. 

Once the last frost date passes I will transfer my annual starts outside and plant them into the mulched area.

The second picture is a mix of wood chips, veggie scraps, and horse manure.  Following Geoff Lawton's chicken tractor on steriods, I am trying to see how much I can get the birds to turn the mixture into compost.  Hopefully supplementing their food as well.
