I am half English and half Italian. I own 2,5 hectares of land and I live in a countryhouse with my partner, my 6-year-old daughter and my old dad. Since I was a kid I found truth in the observation and in the respect of Nature. I got a degree in Literature, and I become a teacher in the public school, though i believe in Free Democratic Education.
The first time I heard about permaculture was more than ten years ago, at the time I was writing my thesis, and I met a wonderful group of people that lived in an early "ecovillage" in Tuscany. I remember very well that huge oak table with hundreds of Fukuoka clay seedballs.
In 2013 I have been given the chance to attend a free course, in a farm close to where I live, and again, I met only true and committed people, and I definitively realized that Permaculture is just the right name for all of my intuitions, thoughts, wishes, dreams, and ethics about sustainable life in the country. From that experience on I am trying to improve my knowledge and my skills through studying and experimenting.
I'm involved in several projects. I am building a straw-bale house and I would like it to become a free school for children over the age of three. I really think that change will come only through education. All the other activities on my land (water harvesting, edible garden, oil production, mediterrenean food forest) are meant to improve the system my father has created when he decided to move in the country more than 30 years ago. With my friend Ezio Schettini I am amongst the founders of a young Permaculture group, named "Laboratorio di Permacultura Mediterranea", which is centred in Bari, Puglia, Italy, and is meant to build a network for all experiences in Puglia, Basilicata, South Italy in general and all the mediterrenean area.
