Trained as both a Permaculture Designer and Fish and Wildlife Manager, Doug has extensive knowledge surrounding landscape planning and creating aquaculture systems for all needs. He has worked in temperate, drylands, and tropical climates, extending from North and Central America to Asia, Europe, and Oceania. This work includes managing land and water for tourism ventures, facilitating and co-creating educational programs, tropical aquaculture and wetlands restoration, permaculture design and implementation, and market gardening. Incorporating this knowledge and experience into educational programs has now become Doug’s main focus as he continues his design and development in various ecosystems. My small green business can be seen at www.treeyopermaculture.wordpress.com
I became interested in PC through my ecology schooling and activism. I was looking for a way to commit my passion and energy into positive solutions. At a time in my life when I was ready to chain myself to a redwood tree because they were being slaughtered. Instead through a divine intervention I found Permaculture and the energy to strive for solutions. Once I took my 8 week PDC in 2005, I have been full-on with PC and educating along the way.
I continue to run TreeYo Permaculture as a global entity focused on education, site development, and ecological design. I am currently teamed with Eva Wimmer and many others through the grand network. We work with many others in varying locations but in Portugal and the states are our constants. I am beginning to build a TreeYo base farm and forest in Northern Kentucky, USA on the family land. It has a 15 acre (6 HA) lake on it as well as old forests of Oak and Hickory and fields and orchards. I am dedicated to building educational material and very dedicated to the combination of Permaculture and art.
