I am new to permaculture and my first introduction to understanding more about permaculture is from Geoff Lawton's online PDC which I just completed August 2014.
For about 7 years now I have been a member of the Weston A Price organization which provides a lot of information to people who want to opt out of the conventional Big Agriculture food experience. For about 7 years I have also been a member of the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund which is "defending the rights and broadening the freedoms of family farms and protecting consumer access to raw milk and nutrient dense foods". In an attempt to become connected to this North Carolina area which we just moved to, I became a new member of the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association.
The online permaculture PDC has really opened my eyes on how to better provide food security for ourselves. It has given me specific tools on how to build soil, build an ecosystem and reduce pollution. We were shown incredible information on how to read a landscape, find key points to use to rehydrate the landscape by slowing, spreading, stopping and sinking water. I can't wait to get started on building an entirely new way of living while at the same time, helping others to do so as well.
