I am a chartered accountant and have had a long career in both public and private sectors. I retired in December 2012 and decided to devote myself to my lifelong aspiration, the creation of an ecological farm. i purchased about 10 acres of land in a rural area, near a village called l'Esperance.
In the same year I learnt about Permaculture from Denis Madeleine who was running an introductory workshop. i took an immediate interest in permaculture. I booked for a PDC course in India but unfortunately could not attend. Then I saw the online PDC offered by Geoff Lawton, and signed up in February 2015. I completed the course in May 2015 after submitting a design for my own farm.
I am now in the process of developing the farm based on my preliminary design. I have already a small infrastructure on site, comprising of 2 sheds and this will be extended to create a nursery, while at the same time 100 square metres of roofs for water harvesting.i have just begun doing the earthworks, which I expect to complete in 2 weeks time, after which I will do the fencing. then will start the most exciting part, the establishment of the farm.
