Permaculture Dreams
I am a chef who is looking for his Garden of Eden. I have ventured over the entire globe in search of food and where it comes from and how to grow it! Throughout these travels I have acquired many skills from many cultures. First I am a chef this is where my passion is, I love every aspect of food, growing, harvesting, animal husbandry, butchering, to cooking and eating. I have also worked as an; auto mechanic, carpenter, heave equipment operator, welder, stone setter, chainsaw artist, plumber, Merchant Mariner(able body Seaman) and so much more.
I first learned of permaculture while I was traveling throughout New Zealand in 2009, WWOOFing for a year. I was so inspired by the videos I saw of Sepp Holzer and my first introduction to Bill Mollison’s Designer manual. I had to learn more about permaculture. Over the course of the following years I have traveled the world training with some of the top permaculture teachers as well as living one hell of an adventure. I attended PV1 In Temecula California, and took the PDC which followed, which was taught by Owen Hablutzel with Geoff Lawton was a guest speaker for 2 days. I have trained with Sepp Holzer in Butte Montana. After the course, I stayed behind helping Zach Weiss finish up some of the earthworks and planting for the massive crater garden, which was established at Sage Mountain Center. Ive also traveled to Austria to further my studies with Sepp. We spent time at the Holzerhoff and the Krameterhof. After these classes I spent the next few months traveling through Europe WWoofing .
I am at a very pivotal point in my life. I want to help heal the earth and share my knowledge about food, cooking, and adventure. Currently I’m in Ohio after finishing some projects in New York. One was a CSA garden project at a school in Queens NY. And the other was working as carpenter stone setter at a healing retreat center in Rosendale NY. I am looking to continue heading west to ski country, I havnt decided where and that’s where I am hoping to get some advise from some friends in the permaculture world.
I have a pop-up camper on the back of my truck, and a mobile workshop, which I tow behind it. The mobile workshop has tools for Welding/metal working, wood working, tree felling/chainsaw, and much more. I have been living in the camper since 2011 because I have been a chef out to sea since then and I didn’t see a point in paying rent for somewhere I wasn’t going to be half the year. For the most part I have all my basic needs taken care of; solar for my electricity, IR propane heater,(I have been plenty warm down to 0*F), a warm dry bed with electric blanket, kitchen, refrigerator.
I am looking for a project to get involved with. With forward thinking peoples who want to have a great impact on the world at large. I have many skills to offer and share and the ability to act independently. Yet humble enough to know I don’t know everything I am only 37 and still have much to learn. I want to move close to ski country, this is another one of my joys of life.
So here I am throwing my self out there to see if anyone needs help with some permaculture projects close to some slopes. 2 places have struck my fancy so far; Bozeman MT, and Leavenworth WA, but im open to suggestions. I still plan on cooking out to sea, so im looking for a place which will be flexible.
Cheers much love and light
