I grew up on a farm, as a young person moved away. I've had a very eclectic career but for the majority of my life I've wanted to get back on the farm and develop an environment where the natural local ecology and the farm ecology compliment each other rather then compete with each other.
I'm in the process of starting a permaculture farming business which will not only mesh the two environments together, be sustainable and profitable, but will further develop the native ecology. I'm hoping when it's all said and done (I'm sure it will take quite some time), that it can stand as a teaching aid for local producers with respect to crops, land, watershed, livestock and wildlife management. I intend to be partnering with the local environmental governance and hope to provide habitat for some of the more endangered species in my area. I hope to have schools, community groups, related industries etc come to the site and see that it is possible to be productive and not destroy the environment around you.
