April has a background in music and computing and grew up in a political family. At a young age met and observed politians and conservationists. She stood for parliment and was active in friends of trees and junior council but soon realised that it was more important to walk the talk and show a fulfilling ecologically and socially rich lifestyle.
She and her partner, Paul Kelly, live in Mt. Kembla, a lively village in dry rainforest along the Illawarra Escarpment and close to Wollongong. Their site is a demonstration site by appointment only. It grows more than 200 edible species, is celebrated for it's creative and arty low-impact building project, silk farming, chicken mansion, hills hoistarium, family solutions for green living and child-friendly features.
