(projects i'm involved in)
I have a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Anthropology. I assisted a professor with research on local food systems and learned about food issues and sustainability... and that's when my husband and I got interested in starting our own permaculture farm. My parents own 6 acres and we have about 1.5-2 acres under production (about 70% perennial fruit trees, bushes, flowers, and 30% annual veggies). We are also very interested in natural building and are starting plans on a cob house. I'm very pregnant right now so my husband has been the one taking permaculture workshops (mushroom cultivation, vermiculture, design principals, pollinators, habitat creation, etc) and we have been getting a lot of help from a local business called Bountiful Backyards.
