Hi. I grew up with two gardening parents who grew alot of our food when we were kids and installed a rain garden in the front yard. Though my formal education is in International Development Studies, I have been studying plants on my own for awhile now. I am a Master Naturalist in Kent County, Michigan and I volunteer at Blandford Nature Center. I also work as an independent yard care specialist.
I became interested in permaculture in 2007 when visiting family in Austin, TX. A booth at the farmer's market there was promoting permaculture and I was fascinated with the idea. I have read a few books on the subject and have sought out anyone in my region who I might learn from.
I am attending Alderleaf Wilderness School in the fall to complete their Wilderness Certification Program (which includes a PDC). I am excited to learn more and get some hands-on experience with permaculture. I am hoping through this network to meet more people in Michigan who are interested in permaculture so that we can work together.
