Coming from a family of oyster farmers I grew up on the river, but thanks to pollution and disease in the Kalang River I am forced to look for a more stable/sustainable lifestyle.
My Wife and I have been researching and reading about permaculture and alternate farming/living for several years, creating a mini food forest, reed beds, river bank stability, revegetation.
In Sep 2010 we purchased our Dorrigo home on 80 acres. We are now upgrading the house to be more sustainable/livable (heating, water, insulation, reed bed, etc), also we are designing and implementing a small/medium commercial food garden for us and to sell at the local growers markets and shops.
We are starting to join local groups like seed savers, to get involved with the community and help others.
