My background is in ecology, mainly native wildlife and natural systems. I've worked as an ecologist for government and in private practice. My passions are ecological systems and human well-being.
I was first introduced to the concept of the agri-ecosystem and Permaculture by a particularly enlightened lecturer (Leigh Davison) at Southern Cross University in 1999, and immediately saw that this was the way to farm and manage land, as opposed to the input-output based agriculture i'd studied at high school. However, at the time i was far very focused on learning about native wildlife and ecology, and it wasn't until 2006 that i finally undertook a PDC and began my learning journey in ecological land management at broader scales.
Since then i've experimented with my own systems at home, visited a lot of properties implementing Permaculture design, undertaken quite a few short courses and read on topics from biological farming to social ecology.
