I'm an organic gardener using 8 raised beds for cultivating approximately 200 square feet of growing area. My wife and I grow winter vegetables and our salads. Beginning in June, the high heat in this part of Florida reduces the ability to grow vegetables as the heat index rises to 105 to 107 degrees. For four months, we grow flowers and add this biomass to our soils. We use continuous soil improvement also by adding composted horse manure and live worms (from fish bait shops) into the beds.
